Luxury Interior Designer in McLean, VA
Elan Design provides luxury residential interior design in McLean, Virginia, led by Founder and Principal Designer Eryn Oruncak, SIDC, ASID. Based nearby in Great Falls, our firm creates highly personal homes shaped by thoughtful design, fine art, materiality, light, and the principles of neuroaesthetics.
McLean presents a particularly interesting design environment. Established neighborhoods sit alongside substantial renovations and increasingly ambitious new construction, while Washington, DC and Tysons are both close enough to influence the pace and character of daily life.
Our approach is to create interiors that reflect that life, not simply rooms that look finished.
Interior Design for the Way McLean Lives
Location is one of McLean's defining advantages. It sits beside Tysons, close to Washington, and within easy reach of Northern Virginia's major employment, business, cultural, and transportation centers.
For many McLean households, that means home needs to accommodate a complicated mix of professional life, family routines, entertaining, travel, school schedules, guests, and increasingly, work from home. An office may need to function at a very high level without feeling corporate. A kitchen may be the center of everyday family life while also supporting larger gatherings. Formal rooms may need to become more usable rather than simply beautiful.
And a new home with generous square footage still needs warmth, personality, and connection. Those are design problems we find much more interesting than simply choosing furnishings.
Established Homes, Renovations and New Construction
One of the characteristics that distinguishes McLean is the variety of its residential architecture.
Within a relatively small area, you find established Colonials, renovated mid-century and traditional homes, contemporary residences, substantial custom builds, and new construction exceeding 7,000 or 9,000 square feet. Each presents a different interior design challenge.
An established home may benefit from preserving architectural character while updating how the family actually lives. A major renovation requires coordination among old and new. And new construction presents an entirely different opportunity: making hundreds of decisions early enough that architecture, lighting, millwork, furnishings, art, and materials ultimately feel as though they were conceived together.
Elan Design works across that spectrum.
Interior Design Between City and Nature
Although McLean is closely connected to Washington and Tysons, nature remains unusually accessible.
That contrast—urban access on one side and natural landscape on the other—is part of what makes McLean different from both Washington and Great Falls. It can also inform the home.
Views, natural light, organic materials, landscape relationships, indoor-outdoor connections, and biophilic elements can help create interiors that feel grounded even when the people living in them operate in demanding professional environments.
Luxury Interior Design in McLean
Elan Design works with McLean homeowners on full-service residential interior design, including furnishings, custom window treatments, lighting, fine art, renovation and new-construction design direction, procurement, installation, and final styling.
For clients who need focused expertise rather than a full-service engagement, Eryn also offers Room Readings and Fine Art Consultation services.
Our work may begin with an entire residence, or with one question that has prevented a room from feeling right.
A Personal Approach to McLean Homes
McLean's homes vary widely, and the people living in them do too. That is exactly why we do not believe luxury interior design should produce the same result from one client to the next.
A home may need to accommodate children and visiting grandparents, international travel and collected artwork, formal entertaining and informal family life, demanding work schedules, or rooms whose purpose changes as the family evolves. The most successful interior is the one that responds to those realities while still feeling beautiful, cohesive, and deeply personal.
If you are searching for an interior designer in McLean, VA, Elan Design brings together luxury residential design, fine art, and neuroaesthetics to create homes that support both how you live and how you want to feel when you are there.
